editable forms project

I was approached by a new client who wanted to produce a package of resources he could sell to a third party to start a home and office cleaning business. The resources included forms for creating the business, finding customers, bidding on jobs, and running the business.

He had worked with one or two other designers on some of the forms, but they didn't want to tackle the pieces that needed to be customizable by the end user. That's where I stepped in. My solution was to create editable pdfs. The end user can open these pdfs in Adobe Reader and alter the copy in certain areas to reflect, for example, their company name and contact information. After customizing the editable forms, they can be printed on a home printer or taken to a copy store to be reproduced.

The final product is a resource CD containing the editable forms I created, other non-editable forms from the previous designers, and a pdf index of everything on the CD. I created the index so that when the end user clicks on the name of the file in the index, that file is opened in Reader.

St. Patrick's Day shirts

Cintas wanted to offer several St. Patrick's Day shirt designs to their customers. They provided ideas based on common designs and I went to work creating the artwork. In the end 4 different shirts were created with a simple shamrock on the front and the design on the back. The 4 shirts are represented below.

They also needed a flyer they could e-mail to their sales reps across the country. The flyer needed to be specific to each sales rep with their personal contact information on the bottom and also have the ability to account for regional pricing differences. The solution was a pdf with certain information created as editable regions. The reps can open the pdf in Reader, personalize the editable areas, and print the flyers. Click on the image below to view it larger.

sales promotion

Retailers have to think a season ahead. Late winter is the time to start promoting spring and summer gear. Aware of this, Cintas is starting to nudge their customers toward thoughts of screen-printed shirts. This year, they devised special uniforms for their drivers to wear while delivering orders to customers. A few other variations were created too (long-sleeved shirts, alternate colors), but most Cintas drivers will don these shirts in hopes of drumming up more sales.

specialty catalogs

My client, Cintas, produces a large catalog in the spring and fall each year. Based on the products in those large catalogs, I am often tasked with creating smaller, category-specific catalogs. Here are 2 designed following the Fall/Winter 2010 catalog.

This one includes all their footwear offerings - athletic shoes, work boots, women's shoes, etc.

This one features small promotional items. Any small give-away type item you can think of...they will put your company logo on it.

sample logos

A client needed 30 logos for fictitious companies. Part of their business includes embroidering and silk-screening logos on t-shirts and they need logos to apply to garments for catalog and website photography. What a great exercise in visual brainstorming. I was given general industry categories but the rest, including company names, was up to me. I completed 2-3 per day until they were finished. This represents some of my favorites. I have seen several in use in the photos for their upcoming Spring catalog.

Cross Country T-shirts

For the second year, I've helped out a High School cross country coach with the design for his invitational t-shirts. High School students are discriminating. As the coach said, they decide in a split second if the shirt is "cool" (worth buying and wearing) or "stupid." Also, the shirt has to appeal to students and their parents. Sales of this shirt were good, so I think I hit the mark.

website for Mallet Incorporated

I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with Mallet Incorporated, a local Seattle design-build company. The term design-build means they do both architectural designs and construction work on their projects, mainly remodels and renovations. Their work can be seen all over the greater Seattle area. My work for them has begun with a website, http://malletinc.com, and I hope there are more projects in the future.
